It feels like quite a while ago now, but I can still remember that sweltering hot day when we gathered at the Mitchell’s NDGC Summer BBQ, sheltering from the sun and enjoying each other’s company. It was a fantastic event, made all the more special by the chance to chat with members, many of whom have since become such dear friends. Looking back on those moments, it also reminds us of everything we missed during the two challenging years of the pandemic.
We owe so much gratitude to the scientists who developed the Covid vaccines, which have allowed us to return to some semblance of normalcy. For me, the vaccine has truly been a ‘lifesaver.’ Without it, I would likely still be shielding to this day. I do acknowledge that there are differing views on the matter, but for me, these vaccinations have been a turning point, making life livable again.
A huge thank you to the Mitchells for putting so much effort into making the day comfortable and memorable for all of us. They went above and beyond to ensure everything went smoothly. As usual, there was the ever-popular raffle, with a variety of prizes up for grabs. Of course, there was also the wonderful bric-a-brac table, where I managed to find yet another item I desperately needed for the woolshed. It’s always such fun to rummage through the treasures on offer!
One of the highlights of the day was the opportunity to visit Zoe’s ‘craft room,’ where she creates her beautiful goats’ milk soap, creams, and lotions. I was also captivated by her stunning collection of greeting cards, each featuring professional photographs of her goats. The cards truly capture the charm and personality of her herd. If you’re interested in learning more about Zoe’s products, you can find details in the Moorend Moisturisers advert in the Sales/Wanted listings of this newsletter or by visiting the club website and clicking on the Products tab.
Once again, a massive thank you to the Mitchells for hosting such a fantastic event, and to everyone who came along and made it such a fun and memorable day. Here’s to many more wonderful events like this!
Mary
